Our committees are: Promotion, Design, and Economic Vitality. We also have committees dedicated to Fundraising, the Autos & Oysters Car Show, and the July 3 Fireworks.
All meetings are held at the Main Street office at City Hall, located at 1 Avenue E in downtown Apalachicola.
The Promotions Committee presents a positive image of the historic commercial district and encourages consumers and investors to live, work, shop, play and invest in the Main Street district. By marketing the district’s unique characteristics to residents, investors, business owners, and visitors, an effective promotional strategy forges a positive image through advertising, retail promotional activity, special events, and marketing campaigns carried out by local volunteers. These activities improve confidence in the district and encourage commercial activity and investment in the area.
Serving on this committee are: Sandi Garrett Little, Chair; Cindy Clark; Jody Rosenbaum; Lisa Johnston; Paulette Moss; Margene Off; and Barb Ward.
The Promotions Committee meets on the third Tuesday of each month at 11:00 a.m. For more information, please email Sandi Garrett Little.
The Design Committee works with the City on an ongoing basis to implement landscape, streetscape, and other beautification projects. We also organize Downtown Cleanups at least once a quarter. These have been expanded to include the Battery Park Playground. This group is also tasked with installing downtown holiday lights, launching an historic plaque program, and developing a green space on Commerce Street.
Serving on the Design Committee are: Jim Bachrach, Chair; Tom Daly; Ed Springer; Sam Gilbert; Constance Peck; and Lynn Wilson.
The Design Committee meets on the second Thursday of each month at 10:15 a.m. For more information, or to get involved, please email Jim Bachrach.
The Economic Vitality Committee is currently reorganizing under the leadership of new Co-Chairs Sam Gilbert and Heath Galloway. Also serving on this committee are David Adlerstein and Cindy Clark.
The Committee focuses on strengthening the downtown district’s existing economic assets while expanding and diversifying its economic base. Plans are underway to co-host a series of forums for business owners, in partnership with the Apalachicola Bay Chamber of Commerce and the Franklin County Tourist Development Council. The goal will be to discuss challenges that business owners face and to identify collaborative solution. Details to be announced. Other projects include updating the business listings on the downtown kiosk maps. For more information, or to get involved, please contact Heath Galloway or Sam Gilbert.
The Fundraising Committee is made up of Jody Rosenbaum, Gary Joiner, Jim Bachrach, and Augusta West. It meets regularly and is focused on implementing a well-diversified fundraising plan for long-term sustainability of our non-profit 501(c)(3) organization.
The Autos & Oysters Car Show Committee is chaired by Gary Joiner. Also serving are Tom Fugate, Jim Ward, Will Rosenbaum, Ed Springer, Barb Ward, and Paulette Moss. This annual event began in 2015. To learn more about the car show, or to get involved, click here.
